JudoJudo is a martial art which develops physical coordination, physical and emotional confidence. Dr. Jiguro Kano founded Judo in 1882. He derived the art from Ju-Jitsu. By eliminating the so called deadly techniques, Judo became a martial art that could be practiced at full speed with relative safety, thereby increasing its effectiveness for self-defense. In 1964, Judo was recognized as an Olympic sport. Judo enhances balance, physical conditioning and mental confidence, along with effective self-defense. All these benefits are developed while practicing with mutual respect and benefit to yourself and your training partners.
Lonnie G. Ross is the Chief Instructor for the Judo classes at Big Green Drum Japanese Martial Arts. He is Chung-Si (Lineage Successor) of Wu-Wei Gung Fu and a Nidan in the United States Judo Association.
